Conceived
around traditional sources of economy and development like production
of sugar and cattle raising, this province has been paving its way
to new horizons. To that aim, it counts on natural wonders only
waiting for the creation of an appropriate tourist infrastructure,
but its incursion in this field has already been announced.
Current tourism offers are concentrated in Covarrubias beach and
nature tourism based on the richness of its medicinal waters. In
addition, it offers an appropriate space for speleological research.
Its beaches are excellent, having white sands and numberless coral
reefs.
In this territory is located the most relevant steel industry of
the country.
Considered a national monument, the Fuerte de la Loma constitutes
a testimony of the efforts of the Spanish colonial government in
establishing defensive positions against the impetuous advance of
the Cuban insurrectionist forces.
The people from Las Tunas are preparing to encourage the development
of tourism and evidence the proverbial hospitality of its inhabitants
as well as the pride they feel for their deep Cuban roots.
